🇮🇪 Ireland Shipping - A Little Update From Phil the Pug

A Note for Our Lovely Irish Friends

“Alright my pals across the water… Phil here, reporting for postal duty with some important news!”

Because we’re a teeny‑tiny UK business (and I’m only a small pug with short legs), we’re not part of the EU IOSS system yet. That means when your parcel trots its way from the UK into Ireland, Irish customs may add VAT and a small An Post handling fee before they let it continue on its adventure.

🗓️ What’s Changing From 1 July 2026?

Ireland is tightening its import rules. From 1 July:

  • Irish VAT must be collected on all parcels entering Ireland from outside the EU

  • If a business isn’t registered for IOSS (we’re not — it’s expensive and not designed for tiny shops), parcels are processed as Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU)

  • That means VAT is charged on delivery, plus the €3 An Post handling fee per item

This is set by Irish Revenue — not by us (if it were up to Phil, he’d pay in biscuits).

In the past, this meant some of our lovely Irish customers ended up paying things like:

  • £8.50 postage

  • plus €22.11 in customs/VAT and handling fees on delivery

Not ideal. Not fun. And definitely not treat‑worthy.


🟦 NEW: DPD 2–3 Day Delivery (Customs Paid)

To make things easier, we now offer a premium courier option where all Irish VAT and customs fees are prepaid by us.

That means:

  • No surprise charges on delivery

  • No €3 handling fee for each item

  • No VAT bill at the door

  • Fast 2–3 day tracked courier delivery

Price: £18.00–£24.00 (depending on parcel size) This covers the courier cost and the customs fees that would normally be charged to you on delivery.

Phil says: “I’ve sorted the customs humans so you don’t get any surprise bills!”


🟩 Royal Mail International Standard (Cheaper Option)

If you prefer a lower upfront cost, you can still choose Royal Mail.

Just keep in mind:

  • Irish VAT may be charged on delivery

  • An Post may add a €3 handling fee per item

  • Delivery is slower and untracked

  • Total charges can end up around €20–€25, depending on your order value
